Fraud pretending to provide Coronavirus Relief Fund by central government: Cyber Crime Police warns bank account holders.


Coimbatore: Cyber crime police in a press release said, "Recently, in Coimbatore districts, in Tamil Nadu, there have been phone calls to public speaking on behalf of the Central Government as if we were speaking Tamil mixed with the Northern language.

They said similar to Tamil Nadu government which gave Rs. 4000 in 2 installments as coronavirus relief fund, the Central Government was also giving Rs. 6,700 as Coronavirus Relief Fund. We have contacted you to collect the relevant information. Cyber crime said the impersonators are getting their bank account, ATM number, OTP number and manipulating money from the bank. So Cyber Crime has asked people not to be deceived if someone like this calls and talks about the central government giving coronavirus relief fund.

They added, "The central government has not announced any such plan to the people. On behalf of the Coimbatore District Cyber Crime Police, we ask the people not to be deceived into not disclosing any of their banking details to anyone."
