Point of sales devices incorporated at all ration shops in the City

The Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation has been tightening the loopholes of the public distribution system (PDS) by conducting regular inspections and presently, by issuing point of sales devices to all ration shops across the State.

The ration card holders are asked to register the following details at their ration shops -Card number, card type, Mobile number, Aadhar card number and details of the family numbers (adults & children). After incorporating the details, an SMS would be sent to the registered mobile numbers of the card holders, as a confirmation of addition to the PDS database.

The public those who have registered will receive regular SMS on the overall stock details, availability of commodities, price list, date of distribution, transit date and closing stocks, thus making the whole PDS process transparent. The point of sale devices would help to curtail misappropriations at the ration shops and ensure easy access of ration shops to the public, at all times .The project has been well-received by the public around the state.

The users can visit http://www.consumer.tn.gov.in/fairprice.htm to stay updated on the stock details and register complaints and suggestions on the PDS or on their ration shops.

Hence, the District Collector, TN Hariharan has requested the people to incorporate their cards in the point of sales devices at their respective ration shops and stay connected and updated with the PDS.
