Tamil Nadu Government issues new guidelines to be followed to contain Covid-19 spread

As per Government order, new restrictions will be imposed across Coimbatore from 4 am on May 6th to 4 am on May 20th, 2021.


Coimbatore: On the advice of the Central Government, the Tamil Nadu Government has issued guidelines on Wednesday to prevent further spread of Covid-19. As per the Government order, new restrictions will be imposed across every area in Coimbatore from 4 am on May 6th to 4 am on May 20th.

The Government's press release stated that "All government offices and private offices are allowed to operate with only 50 percent employees. Only 50 percent of seats on private buses, government buses and taxis should be occupied by the public during travel. All grocery and vegetable wholesale market will be open only until 12 noon. These stand alone groceries and vegetable shops will be allowed to operate till noon without using air conditioning.

Essential functions such as pharmacies and milk supply are allowed to operate as usual without any hindrance. All restaurants across the district will only be allowed to provide parcel service and tea shops will only be allowed to operate until 12 noon. In cases of deaths and funerals, no more than 20 people are allowed to participate. Continuous production factories and Industries manufacturing essential commodities, which are required to operate without interruption, are permitted to operate during night curfews.

The flower market which had been temporarily shifted to Shastri Maidan in Coimbatore due to the spread of Covid-19, will be closed for the entire curfew period. It has been advised that no one should visit the flower market. Corporation officials have urged the public to adhere to these restrictions to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection."
