Perur Patteeswarar car festival: Wearing face masks mandatory, traffic diverted


Coimbatore: The temple car procession will take place this evening at the Perur Patteeswarar Temple, which is the pride of Coimbatore. Devotees are asked to use face masks compulsorily, use hand sanitisers and to follow social distancing. The route for traffic has also been changed for this occasion.

The Perur Pateeswarar temple administration has advised all the devotees to use sanitisers and has also announced that the traffic has been diverted for this evening's car procession. The Perur Patteeswarar Temple's Panguni Uthiram Car Festival commenced on 19 March with flag hoisting.

Following the hoist, special pujas were done for the Lord on a daily basis. Yesterday evening, the Thirukalyanam festival was held with the deity on the white elephant, followed by the Sri Athimurkamman car procession. The main event of the festival, the temple car procession, will take place this evening at 4:00 p.m. Public who attend the ceremony are asked to compulsorily wear a mask.

Traffic has been diverted on Siruvani Road from 3:00 pm to 7:30 pm today to avoid congestion. Vehicles going from Coimbatore to Siruvani can go through Selvapuram, Puttuvikki and Sundakkamuthur. From Siruvani, motorists can take the road from Coimbatore via Perur Chettipalayam and Sundakkamuthur.
