Coimbatore District Collector announces compulsory e-pass for those coming to Coimbatore from Kerala from tomorrow


Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Collector announces compulsory e-pass for those coming to Coimbatore from Kerala from tomorrow. Although the coronavirusin Tamil Nadu is under control, the compulsory e-pass system will be implemented from tomorrow for those coming to Tamil Nadu through the border district of Coimbatore as the coronavirus is relatively high in the neighboring state of Kerala.

District Collector said, "Although the number of cases per day in Coimbatore district is found to be 40-50, we have controlled the number of cases in a single area to a very low level. The coronavirus infection could be further controlled by the cooperation of the general public in wearing face masks, using hand sanitizers and by adhering social distancing."

He added that inspection work will be intensified at check posts in border areas from tomorrow. Although there are more than 15 check posts, inspection will be increased at a total of 6 main check posts in Anaikatti, Walayar, Anaimalai, Valparai and Pollachi and the police, health and revenue departments will be involved.

Also, those going to Kerala from Tamil Nadu must come back to Tamil Nadu only after the e-pass and coronavirus test saying that they are not infected. This also applies to commercial transport motorists. Further action will be taken soon to prevent the spread of the disease through rail transport.

He said the measures would be taken in view of the coronavirus and election period and that the border areas would not be closed during the election.
