About 8500 new smart ration cards have been distributed: Authorities


Coimbatore: District administration authorities said that about 8500 new smart ration cards have been distributed. There are 1440 ration shops in Coimbatore district.

This includes more than 10 lakh family cardholders. Meanwhile, those who do not yet have a ration card are applying for a new ration card through e-service centers and websites. Steps are being taken on behalf of the district administration to issue smart ration cards to applicants as soon as possible.

According to district administration officials, about 9000 people in Coimbatore district have so far applied for the new smart ration card. Applications have been considered and so far about 8500 applications have been accepted. Many of them have been issued smart cards by ration shops and staff. He said work is in full swing to distribute the rest too.
