Issuing the guidelines the Corporation Commissioner said, "the Coimbatore Corporation has been undertaking COVID-19 safety measures in a commendable way. As part of these measures, a well-equipped medical waste-disposal infrastructure has been developed and sufficient caution is being exercised in disposing medical waste.
With the help of private organisations, medical waste from hospitals, health centers and containment zones are done away with safely. Waste such as face masks, gloves, sanitary napkins, baby diapers and such should be segregated and given away to sanitary workers."
"Further, the public are requested to opt for the use of reusable face masks, rather than single use masks. During the monsoon, the public are requested to support the special measures taken by the Corporation for the disposal of such waste," said the Commissioner.
