Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Corporation has announced a ban on sale of meat including processed meat, on February 8, on account of Vallalar day.

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Corporation has announced a ban on sale of meat including processed meat, on February 8, on account of Vallalar day.

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer J. Sravan Kumar has in a press release has informed stating," All Abbatoirs run by the Corporation will be closed in observance of the Vallalar Memorial Day on February 8, 2020. The Corporation run slaughterhouses at Ukkadam, Singanallur, Sakthi Road, Podanur and Thudiyalur and the 10 meat stalls under the Coimbatore Corporation will not function on the day", he informed. 

The Corporation added that the ban on meat sale would extend to supermarkets and commercial complexes retailing processed meat. Any violations will be dealt legally, he warned.
