Tirupur District Collector motivates young talents to take part in World Skills Competition

Tirupur: District Collector of Tirupur, K. Vijayakarthikeyan through a Facebook video has invited youngsters to grab a chance to be part of the upcoming World Skills Competition to be held in china in 2021. 

Skills create opportunities and connect societies. They are the foundation of economic progress, believes the World Skills organisation which conducts global skill-based competitions to analyse the skill sets of the participants representing various member countries. 

As the process of identifying unique skills starts at district levels which later progress to state level, the District Collector of Tirupur has invited qualified citizens to take part in the competition and make use of the global platform to showcase their skills. 

"All of us have talents. And, it's important we grab right opportunities to expose and nurture our talents. And one such platform is the World Skills, an organization with a mission to empower young talents", said Collector K. Vijayakarthikeyan in his video. 

He added that in line with this, the government of India launched Skill India campaign by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 July 2015 to train over 40 crore people in India in different skills by 2022. People identified through India Skills comoetition will be representing our country at the World Skills Competition. 

Registered candidates can take part in the District level selections and winners can then move on to State level competitions. Winners at State level will be rewarded with prizes worth Rs. 25,000. And, National level winners will get an opportunity to take part in the World Skills competition to be held in china he noted. 

The Collector in his announcement expressed his disappointment that there were no participants from Tirupur, last year. However, he encouraged the youngsters of Tirupur to come forward and register and be a part of the competitions this year and represent our country globally at the World Skills competition. 

Eligibility 

Youngsters born after 1st January 1999 are eligible to register for the competitions. The website to register online is worldskillsindia.co.in.

Around 50 type of skills are listed for the competition including art, carpentry, painting, cooking, electronics, bakery, floristry, and others. For queries people can mail to [email protected] or call 0421- 2971152. The last date for registration is November 25, 2019.
