The meteorological center has said that heavy rains can be expected in the districts of Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Vellore, Theni, Dindigul, Tanjore, Thiruvarur and Nagapattinam. The districts of Kanyakumari, Nellai, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar and Madurai can expect heavy rains, while very heavy rains can be expected in Pudukkotai, Trichy. Ariyalur, Perambalur, Thiruvannamalai and Cuddalore districts.
Fishermen have been warned to refrain from fishing today and tomorrow in the Gulf of Mannar, parts of Southern Tamil Nadu, Kanyakumari sea, Maldives and Lakshadweep islands. It is reported that fishermen did not go into the sea, after witnessing the sea raging in Arkatuthurai, Kodikkarai and Pushpavanam in Nagapattinam. The district administration of Kanyakumari has announced that ferry services for tourists have been halted.
