Coimbatore: In a communique released by Superintendent of Police, Sujith Kumar IPS on the occasion of Deepavali urged the public on behalf of the district police department to celebrate a safe Deepavali by adhering to rules.

"Keeping in mind the safety of the public, necessary security arrangements have been made in the district of Coimbatore, especially additional police force have been deployed at crowded areas like bus stands and shopping areas. Parents are hereby requested to monitor their kid while bursting crackers and not to encourage them to burst crackers other than the time frame announced by the district administration", the SP noted in the release.
When bursting crackers, the SP has requested the parents to keep water and sand nearby, in case of any eventuality.
The release also apprised that additional CCTV cameras are set up at sensitive areas and crowded places to curb crime rates especially chain snatching and burglaries. Alternate traffic arrangements to ensure smooth traffic has been ensured. And, traffic cops will assist the motorists and pedestrians at all traffic signals.
"Based on the instructions from Director General of Police, Tamil Nadu, a team of police personnel have been deployed at toll gates to avoid delays of incoming and outgoing vehicles", the SP said in the release.
Wishing everyone a happy Deepavali on behalf of the District Police, SP Sujith Kumar requested the public to cooperate with the police and celebrate the festivity with utmost care.
