The new WhatsApp number (94981 01263) on behalf of the Coonoor police was introduced to the public near the bus station today.
The District Police Superintendent urged the public to intimate their address and date of return, if they were travelling out of town. "You can also send photos and videos of suspicious people identified as an outsider from a different state or district and also any suspicious vehicles in your area. The identity of the sender will be kept a secret. Immediate action will be taken when complaints and information are received on this number with the help of the nearest Police Control Room," he added.

Following this, notices on safety and awareness were distributed to the public and auto drivers. Kumar, the Deputy Superindentent of Police, Police Inspector Ammadurai, Deputy Inspectors, Merchants Association President R R Parameswaran, Secretary Rahim, social activists, drivers and many others were present.
