According to a release, so far around 24,911 people in Coimbatore have not linked their Aadhar card with the smart family card.
Hence, the district administration has requested the public who have not linked their Aadhar card with the smart family card to do the same by August 31 at their respective PDS shops between 10 am to 5.30 pm on working days.
In February, 2017 the government had made Aadhar mandatory to avail subsidised foodgrains/cash transfer of food subsidy with a view to better target the Rs 1.4 lakh crore subsidy under the food security law.
