Coimbatore district police resolved 57 of 68 petitions at a public grievance redressal camp held at the District Police Office on Wednesday. Complaints related to family disputes, money transactions, property and land issues were taken up for enquiry, while 11 petitions were referred for further investigation.
COIMBATORE: A public grievance redressal camp was held at the Coimbatore District Police Office on Wednesday, with the objective of ensuring speedy and amicable resolution of public complaints.
According to a press release, petitions submitted by members of the public were taken up for enquiry, while complaints in which petitioners were dissatisfied with the action already taken were identified and subjected to re-enquiry. Petitioners and respondents were summoned in person, their submissions were heard, and enquiries were conducted by Superintendent of Police, Pavan Kumar and police officials to facilitate legal and amicable settlement of disputes.
A total of 68 petitions, including those related to family disputes, money transactions, property disputes and land-related issues, were taken up for enquiry and re-enquiry at the district-level camp. Of these, 57 petitions were resolved amicably on the spot, while 11 petitions were referred to police officials for further enquiry.
The camp was attended by the Additional Superintendent of Police, Deputy Superintendents of Police of the sub-divisions, Inspectors of Police and other concerned police personnel, who took appropriate action on the grievances submitted by the public.
Similar grievance redressal camps were also conducted on Wednesday at all police stations and sub-divisional offices in the district. A total of 82 petitions were enquired into at these camps, including four in Periyanaickenpalayam subdivision, 12 in Perur, 19 in Karumathampatti, 20 in Pollachi, 17 in Valparai, seven in Mettupalayam and three in the District Crime Branch.
The Superintendent of Police advised the public that, apart from grievance redressal camp days, they may also approach their respective police stations and the offices of the Deputy Superintendents of Police on working days to seek legal assistance and resolution to their complaints.
The release said the grievance redressal camps being conducted continuously by the Coimbatore district police had received a good response from the public and were helping strengthen trust and cordial relations between the police and the public.
