Voice of Covai and Southern Railways planted 100 saplings at Coimbatore Railway Junction on September 21, 2024, as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of Swachhata hi Sewa 2024.

Coimbatore: In a significant environmental initiative, Voice of Covai (VOC) collaborated with Southern Railways to plant 100 saplings at the Coimbatore Railway Junction premises on September 21, 2024. This green endeavor was organized as part of the ongoing celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of Swachhata hi Sewa 2024.

The plantation drive saw active participation from members of Voice of Covai, who were joined by key railway officials. Deputy Station Manager Sathish and Chief Health Inspector Shenoy were present during the event, lending their support to this eco-friendly initiative.

Sudarshan, the founder president of Voice of Covai, emphasized the organization's commitment to the project. He stated that VOC's involvement would not be limited to just planting the saplings. The organization has pledged to maintain the young plants until they grow into full-fledged trees, ensuring their long-term survival and impact on the local environment.

This collaborative effort between a civic organization and the railways demonstrates a growing awareness of environmental concerns and the need for sustainable practices in urban areas. The plantation drive at Coimbatore Junction not only contributes to increasing the green cover but also serves as a model for similar initiatives in other public spaces across the city.
