A 30-year-old woman from Bihar died after she was bitten by a venomous snake while sleeping at her residence in Kamaraj Nagar, Sundarapuram, in Coimbatore. She was rushed to the Coimbatore Government Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Coimbatore: Puthul Devi (30), a native of Bihar, had been staying with her relative in Kamaraj Nagar, Sundarapuram, Coimbatore, for the past two years.
According to police, Puthul Devi was sleeping at the house during the early hours of Tuesday when, at around 2 a.m., she was allegedly bitten by a venomous snake. Hearing her cries, a neighbour alerted Uma Shankar.
She was immediately taken by ambulance to the Coimbatore Government Hospital. However, doctors who examined her declared that she had died on the way to the hospital.
The Sundarapuram police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations.
