TN Budget 2022; Funds allocated for free distribution of textbooks to class 1 to 10, ICCIC Coimbatore welcomes Budget

The Tamil Nadu Budget for 2022-23 was presented by the Finance Minister for the State, Palanivel Thiyagarajan, on 18th March 2022, and the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has stated that they welcome the Budget and it is well-balanced.


Coimbatore: The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Coimbatore stated that the Budget 2022-23 was welcoming and well balanced.

Fund of Rs.15 crore allotted for free distribution of text books for classes 1 to 10, the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Balasubramaniam, President, stated that the Budget 2022-23 has been welcoming.

"On behalf of Members of our Chamber and people of this region, we thank the Hon’ble Chief Minister Thiru M K Stalin for presenting this Budget with some innovative measures and special announcements for Self Help Group, School Students etc.", stated the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The highlighted aspects include the chamber's most welcoming announcements namely,

• Measures of attracting investments, creation of more jobs and improvement of downtrodden people.

• Sanction of Rs.15 Crores for free distribution of textbooks to the students of classes 1 to 10.

• More allocation for the scheme “Illam Theedi Kalvi” and proposal for “Professor Anbalagan Education Development Plan” are welcome.

• Sanction of Rs.7,338/- Crores for State Water Resources Department which will ensure proper water services.

• Sanction of Rs.4,130/- Crores for disbursements of loans to Self Help Group.

• Launching of six new combined drinking Water Schemes during this Financial Year.

• To increase FSI in locations around metro rail corridor and Outer Ring Road to facilitate Urban Development.

• Implementation of special programmes along with private firms and Industries to create skilled labourers to meet the demand of the Industries.

• Allocation of Rs.100/- Crores for creating Infrastructure in exports zones.

• We specially thank the Hon’ble Chief Minister for establishment of New Industrial Parks in Coimbatore, Vellore and Perambalur by attracting investments of over Rs.50,000/- Crores.

• Allocation of Rs.50/- Crores for Tamil Nadu Coir Development Corporation to be setup in Coimbatore.

• Single Window Clearances for sanction of Building approvals and Plan approvals.

• E procurement by Government, Public sector undertakings from 01.04.2023 made compulsory is a welcome step towards clean and transparent governance.

• Hosting of Chess Olympiad in Chennai where 150 nations with 2000 players participation and proposal for creation of Furniture Park in Thoothukudi will place Tamil Nadu in world map.

However, they stated that it is disappointing that the recommendations given in the Report of the committee headed by Dr. N Sunderadevan (Retd) for MSME revival are not mentioned in the budget.

Thanking the Chief Minister, they added that, "we thank the Hon’ble Chief Minister for the announcement that Coimbatore will get a Industrial Park which we hope will boost Industrial Development in the region."
