Flights carry more than 200 ton of jasmine per month from Coimbatore to Mumbai

More than 200 tonnes of Jasmine, Madurai Malli, is carried by air from Coimbatore to Mumbai every month.


Coimbatore: Over 200 tonnes of Jasmine flower is taken to Mumbai by air from Coimbatore.

Among the many cargo products shipped from Coimbatore International Airport to different parts of the country and the world, a ton of Jasmine, the ‘Madurai Gundu Malli’ is flown to Mumbai daily via Coimbatore to Mumbai.

Airlines sources said that various cargo items including engineering products, vegetables, fruits, fast food items, flowers, medical equipment etc. are booked and shipped by air from the Coimbatore International Airport.

The famous Madurai Jasmine Flower is booked on an average of one ton and above on a flight from Coimbatore to Mumbai under the Domestic Transport Division. More than 200 tonnes are transported from Coimbatore to Mumbai every month. Tamils living in Mumbai have a desire for Madurai Malli, is the major reason for the daily flow of jasmine through Coimbatore.
