Ramasamy, 85, is a dhobi (washerman) from S Mettupalayam area near Kinathukadavu and is survived by his wife, son, and daughters. Ramasamy who had come to the TASMAC shop in the Kovilpalayam area from S Mettupalayam last night was hit by an unidentified vehicle while he tried crossing the road after consuming alcohol.
Ramasamy sustained serious injuries and succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The Kinathukadavu police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Pollachi government hospital for post mortem.
Police have registered a case on the accident and are searching for an unidentified vehicle.
