Coimbatore:The Perur Town Panchayat President has issued orders to start renovations of the cemetery in the area.

The Town Panchayat President of Perur, Annadurai has been heaped with praises after he issued orders to renovate the Perur cemetery as the first task in response to the long demand of the people, is being felicitated.

The burial ground, situated next to the Noyyal River is under usage for more than 30 years by thousands of families there. Lack of proper maintenance has ruined the outlook of the burial ground and most candidates vouch to renovate it during every election campaign but failed to do so.

Annadurai of DMK has been elected as the Town Panchayat President in the just-concluded urban local body elections. He personally inspected the Perur cemetery for the first time after assuming office and stated that the first task will be the repair of the graveyard and then the ‘Sorga Ratham’, the heavenly chariot, and bring it into use for the people.

He added that the routes to the graveyard are so bad that they need immediate repair. He said that in the past if there were any deaths at night, the burial ground was used in a critical condition by providing electricity through separate generators, but now the first phase of the improvement of the graveyard has started.

Annadurai has spoken to the concerned authorities in this regard. As stated during the elections, the Town Panchayat president, who started the repair of Perur cemetery in the first phase, is receiving heaping praises.
