Mahashivratri Folk Art Festival at Isha in Coimbatore; Curtains come down on the final day with village artists' performances

The four-day Folk Art Festival at the Isha Yoga Centre that began on the 5th of March concluded on the 8th, yesterday, and folk artists from the surrounding villages performed on the final day.


Coimbatore: The four-day Folk Art Festival at the Isha Yoga Centre that began on the 5th of March concluded on the 8th of March.



The Folk Art Festival of Isha Yoga Centre celebrated every year on the occasion of Maha Shivratri ended on the 8th of March, Tuesday. The curtains came down with performances from artists in and around the 10 villages of Isha on the final day. The programs began on the 5th of March and continued till 8th, yesterday, a four-day festival.



Artists from Thanikandi, Madakkadu, Patiyar Kovilpathi, Mullangadu, and Vellapathi among other villages brought the audience to their feet with their traditional music and dance performance held at the space at Adiyogi. Their performance was well received by a diverse audience from all parts of Tamil Nadu and its neighboring states, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.

The students of Isha Samskriti delivered a folk performance to an appreciative audience. Anna Dhanam was offered to all after Adiyogi Divya Darshanam.

Karagattam, Kavadi Attam, and Therukoothu were the highlights among the traditional arts performed by artists during the 4-day festival.
