Tirupur: The Tirupur city recorded 60.66 percent of votes in the urban local body elections.
The Urban Local Body Elections, on the 19th February, were held from 7 am to 6 pm for 6 municipalities and 15 Town Panchayats in Tirupur district. A total of 1299 polling stations were organized in the district and polling was brisk since morning.
The corporation recorded 55.40 per cent voter turnout in municipal areas, 66.35 per cent in municipal areas and 75.34 per cent in Town Panchayats and 60.66 per cent across the district, in total, according to the district administration.
The EVMs were sealed in front of the candidates' agents and sent to counting centres. Votes cast in Tirupur Corporation. The counting for the corporation will be held at the Chikkanna Government Arts College and the counting for the municipalities, town panchayats will be held at 12 centres set up in respective areas.
