The Pollachi police have arrested the man who killed his fellow worker, intoxicated by alcohol, following a dispute on Saturday

Pollachi: A 40-year-old man who killed another person, under the influence of alcohol, following a dispute in Pollachi on Saturday has been arrested.

Mahalingam, (34), was a coconut worker from the Kottur. Reportedly, on Saturday after work at the grove in Diwansapudur, Mahalimgam accompanied Selvaraj, (40) from Udumalpet for a drink who had come to work in the same garden.

In a dispute between the two, Selvaraj attacked Mahalingam with a log and fled. An injured Mahalingam was rescued by the public and was admitted to the Pollachi government hospital. Unfortunately, Mahalingam succumbed to his injuries.

The Anaimalai police, who had registered a case in connection with the incident, launched a search for Selvaraj. Police arrested Selvaraj near Alangadavu on Monday. Investigations revealed that Mahalingam had pushed Selvaraj away while he was drunk, in which an angry Selvaraj picked up a log nearby and attacked Mahalingam, killing him.

The police have registered a murder case against Selvaraj and are in the process of imprisoning him.
