The locals in the DKT mill area in Palladam Tirupur road went on a road roko demanding basic amenities for their locality, that has been denied for 15 years, leading to a traffic disruption of up to 5-kms.

Thiruvalluvar Nagar, Vaikkal Medu, Kempe Nagar, A.P. Nagar, Selvi Nagar, and other areas in DKT Mill, area of Tirupur Palladam Road have been neglected by the Corporation for the past 15 years without being provided with basic amenities such as road facilities, sewerage, and drinking water.
The locals have been persistently requesting, protesting against the corporation administration for cheating them and alleged the corporation of neglecting them despite repeated petitions.
Enraged, the locals went on to block the main road leading to traffic disruption.
The vehicles queued for a distance of 5-km on both sides of the road. The working professionals were most affected, as they couldn’t reach offices. Police and municipal corporation officials at Veerapandi police station rushed to the spot and held talks.
The public called off the protest and dispersed after it was promised to provide basic amenities in 15 days.
The sudden road blockade by the public disrupted traffic on the busy Tirupur-Palladam main road for about an hour.
