TWAD Board’s water supply scheme inaugurated in Pollachi

Pollachi: The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin inaugurated the uninterrupted water supply scheme of the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD Board) at an outlay of ₹ 69-lakh through video conferencing on Saturday.

An uninterrupted water supply scheme for as many as 212 villages in Pollachi Kalpangarai has been facilitated by the TWAD Board, with the Aliyar River as the water source. The Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister Senthil Balaji and District Collector GS Sameeran visited the project and inquired, about project details from officials.



Addressing the press, Minister Senthil Balaji stated that, “Power supply infrastructure is in progress to provide uninterrupted power supply in Tamil Nadu and land selection process for the construction of 216 new substations is in progress. Land allocation process for 73 substations will be completed at the earliest, and steps are being taken to set up 95 substations next year.”

He added that electricity connection will be provided, within 24 hours, to those applying for new connections. Provision of free electricity to the farmers announced by the Chief Minister is in progress and 23,000 farmers have been provided with electricity connections to date. The documents verification process is underway for the remaining farmers and the minister assured that the power connection scheme will be completed by March.

The District Collectors have also been directed to select locations in the respective districts for setting up a power plant for 4000MW of solar power generation. He informed that once the work is completed, parks will be set up in all districts and steps are being taken to make Tamil Nadu state free of electricity struggle.
