Coimbatore: The forest department, forest vets, police officers are on waiting for the third consecutive day to trap the leopard in Kuniyamuthur, with traps and surveillance cameras. The Forest department has released the video footage of the animal movement.
Forest department, veterinarians and police are continuing to wait for the leopard to walk into the set cages outside the godown in Kuniyamuthur for the third day on Wednesday.
After receiving information that the leopard has been hiding in a private godown in Kuniyamuthur, the forest department was considering to capture the predator by sedating it. However, the godowns conditions resulted in calling off the move and later cages were placed at the gates and surveillance cameras are being installed to monitor the leopard's movements and capture it.
On the 3rd day today, the forest team is still on the wait. At around 3:20 a.m. this morning, surveillance cameras captured footage of the leopard moving around godown. The camera footage has now been released by the district police.
Further, follow-up action is being taken to capture the leopard and 5 surveillance cameras are currently in place to keep tabs on the animal, said the forest department.
