Coimbatore: Expressing concern over the ongoing RSS Shaka training at educational institutions in Coimbatore, a petion was filed at the District Educational Office seeking to ban such religious training meets at government and private schools.
Representatives of Thanthai Dravida Periyar Kazhagam (TPDK), Viduthalai Chiruthiagal Katchi, Makkal Adhigaram and other allied parties addressed a petition to the Chief Educational Officer of Coimbatore district to ban such religious training meets in schools, as it would trigger disharmony and hate, amid students.
Earlier, on Thursday the petitioners staged a demonstration in front of the private school in Villankurichi where the RSS training was held. Over 20 of them were arrested by the police.
Speaking on the issue, TPDK, General Secretary K Ramakrishnan said such religious practices at educational institutions will provoke hatred and cause communal unrest. He also questioned the Coimbatore district police for remaining silent when 300 BJP members protested in front of Bharathiar University supporting the RSS training.
The General Secretary of TPDK and allied parties jointly in their petition appealed to the District Educational Officer to immediately ban RSS training at educational institutions, both in government and private.
