Police investigates 4 people who surrendered for murdering youth in Coimbatore

The Saravanampatti police had filed a petition in the Chennai High Court seeking the custody of the four and they were all brought to Coimbatore. All of them were produced in the Coimbatore court and are remanded in police custody for two days from last evening.

Coimbatore: Vijayan is from the Ratnapuri area of Coimbatore. His son was Shriram also known as 'Kurangu' Shriram (22).

On the 20th, Shriram and his friend Gavaskan (23) were travelling on a bike from Ratnapuri to Thudiyalur via Anjugam Nagar. A gang of four men who followed them on two bikes, stopped them and Shriram and Gavaskan were attacked with deadly weapons including a machete.

Sriram fell dead in a pool of blood. Gavaskan escaped unharmed. Following this, the gang escaped from there on the two-wheeler they came on. Sriram was recovered and he died on the way to the hospital. Following this, the Saravanampatti police with the help of CCTV footage conducted an investigation.

It was revealed that Gokul and his friends were the ones who hacked Sriram to death. Two separate forces were formed and the police launched a search operation to nab the gang.

Sujinkumar, Gokul, Raveendran and Manikandan, who were wanted by the police in the case of the murder of a 'Kurangu' Sriram, surrendered in the Egmore court in Chennai a few days ago. The Saravanampatti police had filed a petition in the Chennai High Court seeking the custody of the four and they were all brought to Coimbatore. All of them were produced in the Coimbatore court and were remanded in police custody for two days from last evening.

The investigation has already been pre-emptive, including an altercation between young men living in the Sivananda Colony area of Kannappa Nagar, Ratnapuri, over falling in love with women and gang fights while going to other areas. Due to this, there is already animosity between Gokul's party and the deceased Kurangu Shriram.
