The Coimbatore Corporation executive engineer has stated that the new building construction will be complete by 2023 if the locals in the CMC colony exhibit cooperation.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Corporation executive engineer has stated that the new building construction will be complete by 2023 for public use if the locals in the CMC colony exhibit cooperation.
The people of the CMC colony objected demolition of the Madurai Veeran temple after the Corporation’s announcement to set up 6 floors in the same place as 448 houses in the land. The locals, working as sanitary workers and contract workers of Coimbatore Corporation demanded that the move be revoked as they worshipped the deity for many years.
The Commissioner, Raja Gopal Sunkara assured of action in this matter within a week.
The public demanded proper planning for them with regard to residences as the temporary housing unit lacks basic amenities such as toilet facilities and was not comfortable. They also alleged of infection spread to children and added that the government who works for the people should shed light on their state.
Meanwhile, the Executive Engineer of the Corporation said, “While 432 families were living on 4 floors, new houses are being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.45.07-crore suitable for 448 families in 6 floors.”
He said the project includes elevators in the building and the project would be completed in a-year-and-a-half if people cooperated.
