Municipal Administration Director inspects Integrated Bus Terminal construction, underground sewer project works in Coimbatore

P Ponnaiah inspected the processing of biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes in Vellalore under the Biomining project and stated that the 68 acres of land must be recovered within the said time.


Coimbatore: The Director of Municipal Administration, P Ponnaiah conducted an inspection in Vellalore and reviewed the construction of the Integrated Bus Terminal and sewer project works which are in process.

P Ponnaiah inspected the Kurichi-Kuniyamuthur Underground Sewage Project on Wednesday. Phase 1 and 2 works are underway for 14 Wards, from Ward no.87 to 100.He directed the concerned authorities to expedite connections to the 2500 residences in Arpudam Nagar and Sriram Nagar areas, and also urged that the works need to be completed within the stipulated time as per the contract, while also ensuring best quality.



Corporation officials later inspected the ongoing construction of the Integrated Bus Terminal in Vellalore which is estimated at ₹.168 crores. Following that, P Ponnaiah inspected the processing of biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes in Vellalore under the Biomining project and stated that the 68 acres of land must be recovered within the said time. He also specified that the waste needs to be segregated and the non-biodegradable wastes must be provided to the cement companies and for other purposes. He stated that the engineers should make sure that necessary action is taken to clear other wastes too from the Vellalore region.

P Ponnaiah also directed workers to quickly finish the development projects specified by the Chief Minister, Smart City works, water supply, underground sewage, computerized revenue collection works, construction of tar roads and street lights, after inquiring about the status of the works. He also ordered that the works ought to be made available for public use with quality.

The Joint Commissioner M Sharmila, Assistant Commissioner Annadurai, TWAD Engineer A Senthil Kumar, Administrative Engineer J K Annadurai, Corporation Engineers Uma, Sasipriya, TWAD Assistant Administrative Engineer Bheemarajan, L&T Project Officer Raja Suresh, Corporation Assistant Executive Engineers Sundararajan, Hemalatha, Karuppasami and other officials were also present during the inspection.
