Anaimalai Tribes petition District Collector seeking basic amenities

Tribal people in the Kozhikamuthi forest area have submitted a petition to the District Collector demanding facilitation of basic amenities for people residing in the area.


Pollachi: Tribals in the Kozhikamuthi forest area in Top Slip, Anaimalai have submitted a petition to the Pollachi District Collector, Thakare Shubham Dnyandeorao, demanding that basic amenities be provided to people residing in the area.

As many as 185 families of Malasar, Kadar and Malaipulaiyar tribes inhabit the region. One-fourth of the population is into elephant rearing, some work as assistants, anti-poaching guards and environmental superintendents in the Forest Department.



A set of seven demands including quality concrete houses with toilet and bathroom facilities, a wall between the village and the elephant camp since the residential area is very close to the camp, drinking water facilities in the village, electricity, a full-time doctor nurse at the Government Primary Health Centre at Top Slip, improved road facilities and morning bus services, and training women for employment opportunities were listed in the petition submitted to the District Collector for immediate action.
