Protest on 20th as 95 percent of small businesses suffer without job orders due to rising raw material prices

On the 20th, workers across the country will go on a one-day strike to demand the protection of industries, which directly and indirectly provide employment to more than 40-crore people in the country, to curb the rise in raw material prices.



Coimbatore: The General Body Meeting of the Tamil Nadu Industrial and Micro Entrepreneurs (TACT) Association was held at Velandipalayam under the chairmanship of District Chairman James.



The meeting was chaired by General Secretary Pratap Sekar and Treasurer Leela Krishnan.



The meeting was attended by more than 100 members of the General Committee.



James later told reporters that the price of raw materials for industry has risen by more than 100 percent over the past year. As the industry slowly began to recover from the coronavirus, the manufacturing industry fell by less than 70 percent due to the sharp rise in raw material prices. More than 95 percent of manufacturing industry-based job orders and parts manufacturing companies are unaware that orders have been lost for more than a year. These micro-enterprises are losing their jobs as they are forced to pay off bank loans, private loans, rent and workers' salaries.

On the 20th, workers across the country will go on a one-day strike to demand the protection of these industries, which directly and indirectly provide employment to more than 40-crore people in the country, to curb the rise in raw material prices and to set up a pricing committee. It was decided that all the workshops run by micro-enterprises would take part in the protest organized by the industry organizations in front of the Coimbatore South Tashildar's office at 10 am on the same day.
