DVAC conducts searches on former AIADMK Minister Thangamani’s premises

Searches are on at 69 premises belonging to the former AIADMK Minister in Chennai (14 places), Vellore, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Tirupur and Coimbatore districts.



Coimbatore: The Department of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) are conducting raids at properties belonging to former AIADMK Minister Thangamani and his relatives.

According to reports, an 18-member DVAC team arrived at Thangamani’s residence at Govindampalayam near Kumarapalayam in Namakkal district at 6.45 am and commenced the raid for possession of disproportionate assets.

Searches are on at 69 premises belonging to the former AIADMK Minister in Chennai (14 places), Vellore, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Tirupur and Coimbatore districts. Searches are also happening in one place in Karnataka and two places in Andhra Pradesh.

An FIR was filed against former Minister Thangamani, his son Dharanirajan and his wife Shanthi under the Prevention of Corruption Act Sections 13(2), 13 (1)(e), 109, 13 (2), 12, 13, (1), (b).

Thangamani was the Minister of Electricity and Prohibition and Excise Department from 2016 to 2021. It may be noted that Thangamani is the fifth AIADMK Minister to come under DVAC radar.
