The body of junior warrant officer Pradeep, who was killed in a helicopter crash in Coonoor in the Nilgiris district, was airlifted from Delhi to the Sulur Air Force Base and then flown to his hometown of Thrissur.
Coimbatore: Thirteen people, including Chief of Defense Services Bipin Rawat, were killed in a helicopter crash in the Nilgiris district.
Pradeep A, a junior warrant officer from Thrissur, Kerala was also killed. The bodies of the 13 victims were airlifted to the Delhi Airport. Prominent personalities including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh paid tributes there.
Following this, the bodies of 13 people were sent to their hometowns for burial. Accordingly, Pradeep's body was flown privately from Delhi to the Coimbatore Sulur Air Force Base. The body was accompanied by Union Minister of State for External Affairs Muralitharan. On behalf of the Coimbatore District Administration, South Revenue Commissioner Ilango and Sulur Tahsildhar Shakuntala Mani took necessary steps to send the body to Thrissur.
Palakkad Lok Sabha member Prathapan, who arrived at the Sulur Air Force Base, is engaged in transporting the body to Thrissur. In the Walayar area bordering Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Kerala State Land Revenue Minister Rajan and Electricity Minister Krishnan Kutty are to take the body to Thrissur. There his body is to be cremated with full military honors.
The people of the area paid floral tributes to Pradeep's body, which was brought from the Sulur Air Force Base by an ambulance decorated with flowers. The deceased Pradeep has a wife, a 7-year-old son and a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Pradeep's father has been receiving treatment and is on oxygen support for the past few days due to ill health.
