Tenders have been allotted for 289 projects in Coimbatore - Minister Senthil Balaji

He told reporters that heavy rains in Coimbatore had affected various parts and damage is caused by excessive rainfall. Officials, including the District Collector, are currently working on a wartime basis to fix the issue. He said areas where water is stagnant will be cleaned today. Long-term projects are being prepared in Coimbatore. Recently, the Chief Minister provided welfare assistance worth Rs 200-crore for the people of the Coimbatore district. Out of this, work is underway to set up street lights at an estimated cost of Rs 20-crore. Tenders are currently being awarded for a total of 289 works, including ongoing contract works, road works and sewerage project works.

Tenders have been put up during election times without passing a resolution. With elections in mind in the past, a lot of funds have been allocated and work is half done. When asked about the list of road projects, he said they have to admit mistakes have been made in the past and added that road works will be carried out in line with the development.

He assured past glitches will be fixed and action will be taken against whoever makes a mistake.

In Coimbatore, the tender has been issued without any financial source. Minister said, various scams have taken place since 2013. Currently, the public finance of Coimbatore Corporation is zero. The minister added that Valparai tribal people do not have electricity and assured that the problem will be fixed.
