Coimbatore: District Collector, G S Sameeran distributed Government welfare assistance to 343 beneficiaries at a cost of Rs.78.83 lakhs at a public relations camp. Thecamp was organized at the Vigneswara Marriage Hall, Suleeswaranpatti in Pollachi on Thursday.

Briefing the media later, the Collector stated, “Based on the Chief Minister’s announcement of various welfare schemes for the public, the schemes are implemented effectively by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
In order to take these welfare schemes to the public, the Public Relations Camp is being conducted in rural areas of the district with top officials of all departments under the chairmanship of the District Collector. Public Relations Camps are a bridge connecting district level government officials and people in villages. In the first phase after two years, a Public Relations Camp is being held at Suleeswaranpatti village in Pollachi today.”
The Collector added that 343 beneficiaries received Government welfare assistance at an estimated cost of Rs.78.83 lakhs and an exhibition has been organized on behalf of all departments to create awareness among the public about Government welfare schemes. Further, people in these areas are assured of speedy resolution of the petitions.
102 beneficiaries at an estimate of ₹.12,24,000 under Social Security Scheme and 26 beneficiaries get house site patta issued by the Revenue Department at a cost of Rs.5,70,495. 50 beneficiaries with land welfare patta, accident relief amount of Rs.15,50,000 for 17 beneficiaries, Rs.7,84,653 for 11 beneficiaries through Agriculture Department, Rs.4,64,675 for 5 beneficiaries through Horticulture Department and Natham Patta copy for 18 beneficiaries, Natham Patta transfer to 15 beneficiaries, mineral salt mixture through Animal Husbandry Department for 5 beneficiaries, 3 beneficiaries under Women's Programme receive welfare at a cost of Rs.17,80,000 and Welfare Board Card through Backward Classes Welfare Department to 33 beneficiaries, Patta transfer and Patta sub-division transfer by Revenue Department and combined credentials for 28 beneficiaries, funeral assistance to 2 beneficiaries at a cost of Rs.10,000 and 28 beneficiaries through co-operative society at a cost of Rs.15,00,000 and a total of 343 beneficiaries received assistance worth ₹.78,83,823 at the camp. The Collector also received petitions from the public.
Similar camps are to be conducted in the villages under the chairmanship of District Revenue Officer, Sub-Collector and Divisional Officer, as per the CM’s orders. Steps have been taken to allot plots and construct houses for slum dwellers in Navamalai within a distance of 10 km. According to the orders of the Chief Secretary, separate survey will be taken to provide necessary welfare assistance to all tribals, Nari Kuravas, the differently-abled and transgenders.
Surveillance has been intensified at the check posts through the Animal Husbandry Department to prevent spread of bird flu from neighbouring states, though there are no records of infection in Coimbatore. Further, swift door-to-door inspections are being carried out as measures of prevention of dengue, stated the Collector.
District Revenue Officer P S Leela Alex, Pollachi Sub-Collector Thackeray Shubham Gnana Dev Rao, Deputy Commissioner (Excise) Subhanandini, Assistant Director (Town Panchayats) Dwarkanath Singh, Special Deputy Collector of Social Security Scheme, Social Welfare Officer Thangamani, Deputy Director of Horticulture Bhuvaneswari, Joint Director of Agriculture Chitradevi, Adi Dravidar Welfare Officer RamKumar, Tahsildar Rajakumar and other officilas attended the camp.
