Theft of Rs.45,000 from a woman's bank account

An unidentified person who pretended to help withdraw money gave a fake ATM card to a woman and took Rs.45,000 from her bank account. Kamatchi then lodged a complaint at the Singanallur police station.


Coimbatore: Kamatchi (52) is the wife of Balan from Madurai Veeran Kovil area of Chinniyampalayam, Coimbatore. She has been working as a cleaner in Irugur municipality. Her salary is usually credited to her Indian Overseas Bank account.

A few days ago, Kamatchi went to the Indian Overseas Bank ATM in Irugur to withdraw money from her bank account. A person who was standing in the bank ATM room at the time helped Kamatchi to withdraw money. Kamatchi then returned to her home. A few days later, Kamatchi received a message that Rs 45,000 had been withdrawn from her bank account. She then went to the Indian Overseas Bank branch and asked the manager for an explanation. It was then confirmed that the money had been withdrawn from her bank account through an ATM card.

She said she had her ATM card with her. The manager who bought the ATM card said that it was Kamatchi's ATM card. Following this, it was revealed that the unidentified person who pretended to help withdraw money gave a fake ATM card and took 45 thousand rupees from her bank account. Kamatchi then lodged a complaint at the Singanallur police station. Police have registered a case and are investigating the complaint.
