Coimbatore: The Micro Enterprises in the city were disgruntled at not being invited for the Investors Conference scheduled to be held on Tuesday at CODISSIA which is being chaired by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin.
The TN Chief Minister is touring Coimbatore for two days, November 22 and 23. He participated in the event organized at the VOC Grounds on Monday and inaugurated new ventures and distributed welfare assistance to beneficiaries.
Industries are to ink an MoU at the Tamil Nadu Investment Conference at CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex on Tuesday, for which the Micro Enterprises have not been invited, resulting in them being disgruntled. The industrialists stated that the district administration had not responded despite sending a list of willing participants for the conference.
"Coimbatore district plays an important role in the industrial development of Tamil Nadu after Chennai. Five to six industries are permitted to take part in the conference, in which a maximum of 10 members can participate.However, no invitation has been made to the Micro Enterprises in Coimbatore. With the help of the District Industries Centre, a list of industries was given to the district administration expressing their willingness to participate in the program on behalf of the Coimbatore Micro Industries Organisations. Unfortunately, no invitation has been forthcoming thus far,” lamented the industrialists.
They resented that the Micro Eenterprises of Coimbatore were not being given importance and felt that the Chief Minister may not be aware of the omission, which has given rise to speculations that the issue may be taken to the Chief Minister. It may be recalled that during the AIADK regime, the Micro Enterprises were formally invited to all industrial events in Coimbatore and used to put forth their demands when the present Chief Minister had also participated in such meetings while then being the leader of the opposition.
The industrialists questioned why should such meetings be held in Coimbatore if the local industries are not invited and stated that it should have otherwise been hosted at the headquarters. They demanded that the Chief Minister should give due importance to all industries by respecting their sentiments.
