BJP party workers and loyalists in Coimbatore as a mark of protest rode a cart and went on a hunger strike as the price reduction of petrol and diesel has come into effect in various states, but it is yet to come into effect in Tamil Nadu. Annamalai, the leader of the Tamil Nadu BJP, had said that protests would be held across Tamil Nadu condemning the Tamil Nadu government.

Coimbatore: As petrol and diesel prices continue to rise, the central government has announced a reduction of Rs.5 per litre for petrol and Rs.10 per litre for diesel.

The reduction in price is yet to be implemented in Tamil Nadu. Condemning it, the BJP in Coimbatore rode a cart and went on a hunger strike as the price reduction that has come into effect in various states, is yet to come into effect in Tamil Nadu.

Annamalai, the leader of the Tamil Nadu BJP, had said that protests would be held across Tamil Nadu condemning the Tamil Nadu government. Accordingly, the BJP went on a hunger strike in Coimbatore today.

BJP executives came in cattle carts and joined fellow protestors who are a part of the ongoing hunger strike in Sivananda Colony. Following this, BJP vice-president Kanakasabapathy told reporters that the central government was still paying interest due to the deal struck during the Congress rule. The central government has reduced petrol and diesel prices by giving away Rs 9,000 crore in revenue. This has been the case in the BJP-ruled states as well as in the Congress-ruled states.

However, this has not come into force in Tamil Nadu. Protests will be held to condemn this, he said.
