We are going to bring to notice of Chief Minister that high power towers should not run through the fields; G. Ramakrishnan Marxist Communist Party

G. Ramakrishnan paid homage to the statue of VO Chidambaram at the Coimbatore Central Jail on the occasion of his 85th death anniversary.

Coimbatore: G. Ramakrishnan, Member of the Political Leadership Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) paid homage to the statue of VO Chidambaram at the Coimbatore Central Jail on the occasion of his 85th death anniversary.

After paying his respects by presenting a shawl in the prison premises, he said “The struggle launched by the VOC against foreign rule in Tamil Nadu laid the foundation for the freedom struggle. Actor Surya, who starred in Jai Bhim, and his director have come under fire. The film industry, including Bharat Raja, has issued a statement saying that the film industry should be allowed to function normally.”

He added, "This is welcomed by the CPM. We are going to bring to the attention of the Chief Minister that high power towers should not be allowed to run through the fields. The state government should take steps to hold direct elections for the posts of chairman and mayor in municipalities, corporations and town panchayats as the urban local elections are on the cards. The Central Government is outsourcing the Indian economy and agriculture to multinational corporations. The Central Government deals with the policy of mortgaging ports, airports, public sector undertakings, etc."

He added, "The Chief Minister is about to unveil the statue of VOC in Coimbatore. It is difficult to get permission to pay homage to the statue of VOC in the Central Jail. Steps should be taken to bring the statue from the Central Jail to such a place where making it visible and accessible for the public. The BJP's fight for petrol and diesel prices is ridiculous. The excise duty on a litter of petrol is Rs 33 and on diesel is Rs 32.2 lakh. 87,000 crore tax is collected annually through excise duty and additional tax. People will not believe the BJP's drama of struggle."
