'Covid-19' Care Centre at CODISSIA: 800 beds from 2 halls removed: 1 hall with 400 beds kept for emergency

CODISSIA being spruced up for the TN Chief Minister, M K Stalin's visit with industrialists on Nov. 23.


Coimbatore: Post the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, both during the first wave and second wave, the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex at Avinashi Road had been converted into a 'Covid-19' care centre.



Since the Covid-19 infection rate has drastically declined, beds and medical facilities which were established at the Center has been removed.

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin will be interacting with industrialists on November 23. The Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA) President, Ramesh Babu said, "The Trade Fair Complex by our association played a vital role in providing medical facilities to the people who were affected by Covid-19. Based on the request from the district administration, we handed over 4 halls out of the 5 to be converted as a temporary Covid care centre.

Post Diwali, the Health Department expected cases to rise and in order to provide treatment, three halls namely Hall A, B, E were continued as a Covid care center.



Since fresh cases have declined drastically, beds and all other facilities made at Hall A and Hall B have been removed. 'Hall E' continues to be a Covid care centre with more than 400 beds and medical facilities. At present only 50 patients are being treated. The Chief minister of Tamil Nadu will be interacting with the industrialists at 'CODISSIA' trade fair Complex 'Hall A' and 'Hall B' during November 23," he added.
