The DNA samples of Angoda Lokka's mother Chandrika Perera were collected and matched with Angoda Lokka's DNA samples. This has confirmed Angoda Lokka's identity. The CBCID plans to close the case as there is no suspicion of his death.
Coimbatore: Angoda Lokka, who was notorious gangster in Sri Lanka, was living secretly with his girlfriend Ammani Tanji since 2018 in the Cheranmanagar area of Coimbatore under the name of Pradeep Singh. Angoda Lokka, who suddenly fell ill, died on July 4, 2020. His body was taken to the Coimbatore Government Hospital. Fake identity proof was used to declare that Angoda Lokka is dead. With a fake certificate and with help from a lawyer, he was cremated in Madurai.
Initially, the case which was being investigated by the Peelamedu police was handed over to the CBCID. They interrogated and arrested Ammani Tanji, a Sri Lankan, and Sivagami Sundari, a lawyer from Madurai who was complicit in the cremation of the body, and Dyaneswaran from Tirupur. Among those arrested, Sivagami Sundari and Dyaneswaran were released on bail. Ammani Tanji is placed in the camp. The CBCID police had registered two cases in connection with the incident. One was in connection with the death of the deceased and the other was in connection with the production of forged documents and Angoda Lokka's illegal stay in Tamil Nadu.
The first case has been settled after a post-mortem examination of the deceased revealed that there was no poison in his body and that the death was natural. However, the Sri Lankan media continued to report that the victim had been poisoned. Speculations as to how the man died were finally put to rest.
DNA testing was planned to scientifically confirm that the deceased was Angoda Lokka. Work in this direction was put on hold due to corona virus infection.
