Enmity prompted man to poison liquor; three persons who consumed liquor laced with poison died; Accused arrested

A 63-year-old man is arrested in connection with the death of three men who reported died after they consumed alcohol that was laced with poison on the night of Diwali in Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: A man has been arrested in connection with the death of three persons for allegedly poisoning liquor due to pre-enmity.

In a major twist of events, a man is arrested by the city police for allegedly poisoning three persons to death due to pre-enmity. Parthiban, (31), and Sakthivel, (60), from Pappanaickenpalayam were working as painters. The duo became friends with Muruganantham, (55) of Tenkasi who is a cook by profession, while staying in Coimbatore.

All the three who used to occasionally consume alcohol together decided to celebrate Diwali. Since the day after Diwali was a holiday they bought another bottle of alcohol at around 6.30 pm and consumed it all night at a dilapidated building. Sakthivel who left for his house the next morning sat down in an inebriated state and died in the position. Followed by him, Muruganantham fell to death, while Parthiban was found dead near his house.

The public informed the police after which the corpses of the two men were recovered and were sent to the hospital for post mortem. Parthiban’s body was later sent to Coimbatore Government Hospital for post mortem.

The forensic experts recovered items including tumblers, liquor bottles, and valuable clues from the place where all the three were drinking. Racecourse police were actively investigating the deaths of three people. An autopsy revealed the alcohol all the three consumed was laced with poison. It had come to light that Rajasekhar (63) of the area, due to enmity is responsible for mixing poison in the liquor which the three consumed and resulted in the death of the three men. The cops arrested Rajasekar.

The incident has created a stir in the area.
