Against the backdrop of monsoon rains, there is fear of spread of monsoon related diseases and disorders. With the aim to ensure that the public is healthy during the season, under the instructions of the state Health Minister, in a bid to treat monsoon related illness, medical camps are organised by the CMCH in the five zones of the Coimbatore Corporation.
Coimbatore: Under the instructions of the state Health Minister, in a bid to treat monsoon related illness, and ensure that the public is healthy, every Medical College is instructed to conduct camps for the public.
In view of monsoon season and heavy rain across the state chances of spread of monsoon-borne diseases and disorders like diarrhoea, fever, fever rash jaundice, injury, snake bite, dog bite, and other minor ailments are on the rise.
Thus, camps to keep such diseases and disorders at bay are organised in several pockets in the city. At the camps, medical experts will treat monsoon related minor ailments. Distribution of ORS packets, antibiotics (Tablet Doxycyline), etion and dressing of minor injuries will also be done at the camps. Assistant Professors from Community Medicine Department, Medical Entomologist. Staff Nurse Post Graduate, CRRI and Pharmacist will treat patients at the camp.
This Mobile Medical Camp will cover all the five zones of Coimbatore Corporation and rural areas. Any diarrhoea and fever cases will be treated at the camp itself by giving drugs and ORS packets. Severe cases that require medical attention will be referred to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. Fever and diarrhoeal clusters will be identified with help of Health Inspector in the respective areas.
Routine statistics of 25 camp locations and water chlorination status will be sent to the Directorate of Medical Education every day. The camp is organized and co-ordinated by The Dean, Dr. A. Nirmala, Medical Superintendent Professor Dr. S. Sadagopan, ARMO Dr. Ponmudichelvan, HOD Community Medicine Professor Dr. Kalidas of Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. Today's camp is organised at Ukkadam, Karumbu Kadai and surrounded areas.
