Karuppusamy is from Pollachi Nachikavundar Road. His wife is Jayalakshmi (76). She was home alone on the evening of the 2nd of this month and was drying clothes. A man and a woman suddenly entered the house. Before Jayalakshmi could ask who they were, the couple pushed the old woman down.
The two stuffed a cloth into her mouth to keep her from making noise. Following this, they snatched the necklace from Jayalakshmi's neck and fled. A complaint was lodged at the Pollachi East police station. Police registered a case and were investigating the complaint.
Further, on the orders of Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Selvanagarathinam, a special police team comprising Inspector Ramdas and police under the supervision of Pollachi Deputy Superintendent Tamilmani conducted the investigation.
Meanwhile, police examined surveillance camera recordings fitted in the area. It was revealed that only two people were walking at the time of the incident.
