Police and Fire Department creates awareness for tourists as North East Monsoon intensifies

Police and fire brigade officials distributed leaflets to tourists playing in the Koozhangal river on safety practices while bathing.


Coimbatore: The north-east monsoon has intensified in many parts of the state and heavy rains have lashed many districts.

Thus Tamil Nadu has declared holidays for schools and colleges in 11 districts. Tourists coming to Valparai in Coimbatore district are bathing and playing in the Koozhangal river.

They are also bathing in newly emerging springs near the road due to the rain. Tourists are unaware that heavy rains in the forest can cause flash floods in rivers. Police and fire brigade officials distributed leaflets to tourists playing in the Koozhangal river on safety practices while bathing.
