Coimbatore: Air pollution in Coimbatore has increased due to the explosion of firecrackers on Diwali. Crackers were burst, especially from midnight on Wednesday to Thursday night. Thus air pollution and noise pollution were recorded higher than the prescribed level.
Pollution Control Board officials said, Coimbatore Collector's Office, Kavundampalayam BM10 Floating Particles BM 2.5 Airborne particulate matter particles like Sulfur Dioxide and Nitrogen Peroxide have been spotted since last 28th. The day before Diwali the level was 157 on Wednesday, when the number of particles floating in the air, known as BM10, ranged from 23 micrograms to 20 micrograms before Diwali at Kavundampalayam. It also increased to 250 on Diwali.
