A press release issued by the Chennai Meteorological Department Director, Puviyarasan, read, "Due to the atmospheric overlay in the Central-West regions in the Bay of Bengal and the adjoining coasts in Andhra Pradesh, thunderstorms may occur at a couple of places in Salem, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Erode, Namakkal, Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Perambalur, and Ariyalur districts. Moderate rain accompanied by thundershowers will occur at many places in other districts and Puducherry and Karaikal areas.
Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri and Tiruvallur districts are expected to receive thunderstorms on November 6 and moderate rain accompanied by thundershowers will occur at many places in other districts, and Puducherry and Karaikal areas. The sky will be cloudy for the next 24 hours in Chennai. Light to moderate rain may occur in a few parts of the city. The maximum temperature is 28 and the minimum temperature is around 25 degrees Celsius.
A low-pressure area is likely to develop in the southeast part of the Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas on November 9. Fishermen are advised not to visit the above areas and an orange alert has also been issued for November 5 and 6. Cyclonic winds might blow at 40 to 50 km/h in Central West Bengal Sea and adjoining Andhra Pradesh coastal areas with 60 km between speed and intermediate.
November 5 and 6: Cyclonic winds might blow at 40 to 50 km/h in Kerala, Karnataka coasts and Lakshadweep, and the southeast Arabian Sea.
November 7: Cyclonic winds might blow at 40 to 50 km/h along the southeast Arabian Sea and Karnataka coast.
