Coimbatore: Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the founder of Isha Foundation opined in a Twitter post that fireworks should not be banned during Diwali "Air pollution is not a reason to deny children the joy of lighting firecrackers. As a sacrifice that you make for them, go to office for 3 days by walking. Let kids enjoy bursting firecrackers," read his Twitter post.
Also in the video that was released along with his tweet, Sadhguru confessed that it had been several years since he stopped lighting firecrackers. 'But, bursting crackers was a very enjoyable activity when I was a boy. I would start dreaming about crackers from September onwards. After the Diwali festival, we would buy firecrackers for a month or two and burst them every day. But with this sudden concern for the environment, children are asked not to burst firecrackers. This is not right. For those who care about air pollution, you have to make sacrifices. If you do want the joy of exploding firecrackers, adults should stop exploding firecrackers. But, let the kids have fun exploding crackers. For their sake, you can walk instead of going to the offices in vehicles,' advised Sadhguru.
In his Diwali greeting message to the masses, Sadhguru wished, 'All love, joy and awareness, in the most difficult times and on this Deepavali festival, illuminate your humanity with all its splendor.'
