Over 30 protestors arrested for protesting against spike in petrol price in Coimbatore

In Coimbatore, petrol and diesel prices are sold for over rupees 100. As a mark of protest against the spike in cost, a group of protestors sprinkled flowers on a photo of Prime Minister Modi. Over 30 protestors arrested.



Coimbatore: Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam announced that a protest would be held in Coimbatore to pay floral tributes to Prime Minister Modi's image as petrol and diesel prices crossed 100 rupees.



After the announcement of the protest was made, a picture of Prime Minister Modi from a petrol station near Kuppusamy Naidu Hospital was removed.



The protesters with the portrait of Prime Minister Modi assembled in front of the petrol bunk.

They then paid floral tributes to Prime Minister Modi’s photo.



Later, in an interview, K. Ramakrishnan, General Secretary of the TPDK organization, said that they sprinkled flowers on the Prime Minister's photo to convey the suffering of the people due to the high price of petrol and diesel. He said the protest was aimed at exposing the suffering of the people due to the rise in petrol prices.



Following this, the police arrested more than 30 members of the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam who were involved in the protest.
